Free decision tools

Make better decisions
with real numbers.

Use a scenario to ask better questions. Amounts are monthly and in AUD. Use sales net of GST and expenses net of recoverable GST; do not divide every expense by 1.1. Wages and other GST-free/non-creditable costs need their actual treatment.

What’s left after operating costs?

Example values are shown to explain the tool. Replace them with your figures; they are not industry targets. Missing figures are not treated as zero.

In other costs include rent/outgoings, software, delivery commissions, merchant fees, utilities, insurance and repairs. If platform commissions are entered as costs, use the corresponding sales before those commissions, net of GST—not just bank settlements. Do not count a cost twice if already in goods or labour. Labour should include superannuation and applicable leave, payroll tax, workers compensation and other employment on-costs. Operating result excludes interest, principal, depreciation, income tax and capital spending.

Owner pay and cash pressure

An owner allowance adjusts the decision result, not actual cash paid. Cash proxy subtracts interest and principal from the operating result. It excludes owner drawings, tax, GST settlements, working-capital changes and capital purchases. Blank debt fields mean unknown; enter explicit zeros for no debt service.
